Ric Sayre 2011

Ric Sayre is an experienced distance runner who has earned many national and international awards. He was born and spent his formative years and early adult life in the Mid-West. Searching for an environment more conducive to distance running and marathon training he moved to Ashland, Oregon in 1981. His accomplishments are many and he is recognized as a world class athlete! Of importance, he qualified for U. S. Olympic trials five different years. In 1987 not only was he the U. S. Marathon Champion but he also represented the U. S. in the Pan American Games. He has competed in fifty national and international marathons and was declared the winner in twelve of them. His accomplishments throughout his racing career ranked him in the top 10 U. S. Marathoners for years 1986 and 1987. Although Ric no longer competes at the national and international level at 52 years old he continues to add local wins to his record.

Ric has worked for the Ashland Food Co-op for nine years. He is known for his ability to focus and follow-through on tough issues. He is the Staff Director and has represented staff owners of the co-op since 2002. He functions as a conduit between the staff owners and the Board of Directors and shares relevant information with each. Learning at an early age that optimal nutrition gives you a competitive edge, Ric is a strong supporter of natural and organic food availability in our community.
